Localisation in Disaster Risk Reduction
Find out how local and indigenous knowledge in disaster risk reduction planning can improve outcomes and build inclusive resilience. Queensland's First Nations' Councils are well placed to teach local practices in fire risk management and disaster risk reduction.

With the support of Queensland Reconstruction Authority, the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) partnered with stakeholders on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) to develop comprehensive bushfire management plans that are unique in their combined use of traditional fire management practices and modern disaster mitigation strategies.
