2018 Central Queensland Bushfires - Recovery operation

Event summary

The Central Queensland Bushfires, 22 November – 6 December 2018 event involved more than 140 fires in Central Queensland having a disastrous effect on residents, primary producers, agriculture and the environment. Local government areas activated under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for funding assistance measures for the Central Queensland Bushfires, 22 November – 6 December 2018 event included:

  • Banana Shire Council
  • Bundaberg Regional Council
  • Central Highlands Regional Council
  • Gladstone Regional Council
  • Isaac Regional Council 
  • Livingstone Shire Council
  • Mackay Regional Council
  • Rockhampton Regional Council.

State Recovery Plan 

The Central Queensland Bushfires Recovery Plan 2018 – 2021 (updated August 2019) provides a clear framework for the locally-led bushfire recovery efforts, overseen by the State Recovery Coordinator and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority. The purpose of this Plan is to assist impacted communities rebuild, recover and reconnect following the bushfires with a focus on the priority areas of health and wellbeing of affected residents, repair of property, and restoration of small businesses, primary producers and the environment.

8 local government areas were activated for the 2018 Central Queensland Bushfires event under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for various funding assistance measures for individuals, primary producers, small business and not for profits.
