Get Ready Queensland Week kicks off in King George Square

The Get Ready Queensland team and ambassador Johnathan Thurston have officially launched 2019 Get Ready Queensland Week (13-19 October).

As Queenslanders, we are accustomed to natural disasters and know all too well they can strike anywhere, and at any time, with little to no warning.

The recent bushfires across South East Queensland have kicked off an unexpectedly early disaster season and are a vital reminder about the importance of preparing our communities for whatever Mother Nature has in store.

That’s why Get Ready Queensland Week is so important.

Administered by Queensland Reconstruction Authority, the Get Ready Queensland program is a year-round, all-hazards, resilience building initiative to help communities prepare for natural disasters.

As GRQ ambassador, rugby league legend and Indigenous role model JT is helping spread the important message of getting ready for natural disasters.

Whether your community was impacted by the recent bushfires in the South or by the Monsoon Trough in the North earlier this year, history has shown that disasters do not discriminate – it’s everyone’s business to get prepared.
