Disaster support available for bushfire affected residents in Baffle Creek and Deepwater

Queenslanders whose homes have been impacted by the Baffle Creek and Deepwater bushfires south of Gladstone can now apply for financial assistance.

The Personal Hardship Assistance Scheme offers emergency grants of $180 for individuals and up to $900 for a family of five or more to purchase essential items like food, clothing and medicine.

Further assistance through the scheme includes Essential Household Contents Grants to replace beds, linen and whitegoods, and Structural Assistance Grants up to $50,000 for eligible homeowners to repair their house.

Support up to $5,000 per household is also available to help uninsured residents reconnect damaged essential services.

For more information on support available, eligibility and how to apply, please call the Queensland Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349 or visit www.qld.gov.au/disasterhelp.

Assistance is being provided through the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The financial aid will help bushfire-affected Queenslanders during this tough time.

Emergency services and officers from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority continue to work with Gladstone Regional Council to understand the full impacts of the fires and provide further support where needed.
