Increased Disaster Recovery Grants Bring Hope to Queensland Producers

South-east Queensland primary producers impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred have received a significant boost, with the Queensland Government increasing Emergency Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants to a maximum of $75,000.

The destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred has been immense for the primary production sector, with major damages to infrastructure, equipment, and crops.

The funding, jointly provided by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, will be critical in helping producers repair infrastructure, replant crops, and replace damaged equipment.

Increasing the grant cap from $25,000 to $75,000 will ensure farmers impacted by TC Alfred will have the resources to recover faster and more efficiently.

This increase brings the funding in line with DRFA grants available to primary producers impacted by the northern and western floods earlier this year.

This initiative underscores the partnership between the Australian and Queensland Governments and industry to build stronger, more resilient operations for Queensland’s primary producers.

Boosting the exceptional assistance grants will ensure SEQ’s primary producers can get back to profitability and productivity as quickly as possible.
