Bushfire assistance available in Western Downs and Darling Downs

QRA has moved swiftly to activate the joint State-Commonwealth Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements to ensure there's a safety net for vulnerable people who have been directly affected by the ongoing bushfire situation in the Western and Darling Downs.

DRFA assistance is now available for fire-impacted residents of  Captains Mountain, Crossroads, Cypress Gardens, Ducklo, Forest Ridge, Goranba, Halliford, Kogan, Kumbarilla, Marmadua, Millmerran Downs, Millmerran Woods, Montrose, Moonie, Tara, Weranga and Wieambilla in the form of individual payments of $180 per person up to $900 for a family of five to cover the immediate essentials such as food, clothing and medicine.

Assistance of up to $5,000 is also available to ensure the safe inspection and reconnection of essential services such as electricity, gas and water.

In addition, Structural Assistance Grants of up to $50,000 are available for eligible uninsured dwellings (including caravans) to return them to a safe, habitable and secure condition.

Communities can be sure the Australian and Queensland Governments will work together to provide much-needed practical assistance to them quickly to aid the recovery process in the immediate aftermath of a disaster event.
