Commonwealth and Queensland Bushfire Recovery Funding for Binna Burra Lodge

Queensland’s iconic Binna Burra Lodge is one step closer to reopening its doors to visitors thanks to almost $1.8 million in joint funding to support its recovery.

Surrounded by World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park, the Binna Burra has been a tourism drawcard since 1933 before being devastated by the bushfires late last year.

The funding will go towards cleaning up the site and laying the foundations for the restoration and revitalisation of the historic lodges. Works will also be undertaken to stabilise the cliff face to improve the sites safety and resilience into the future.

The $1.775 million will be jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments through Category D of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority will continue to work with the Binna Burra Taskforce to fast-track its recovery to get back on its feet and welcome guests.
