Proserpine ready to be entertained once more!

In the final piece of Whitsunday Regional Council's Cyclone Debbie recovery puzzle, the new Proserpine Entertainment Centre has swung its doors open to the public.

QRA CEO Brendan Moon attended the official opening along with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Andrew Willcox.

The new state-of-the-art venue, which also has the capacity to act as a second cyclone shelter, is equipped with a multipurpose auditorium and stage, tiered seating with 380 seats, kitchen, café and bar ticketing area, along with toilets and a dressing room. The rebuild also included a street foyer, cinema screen, art installation, loading dock and scenery dock, technical theatre equipment, outdoor performance area and an upgrade to the Cenotaph.

The Queensland Government contributed $13.725 million towards the project, with the Commonwealth Government providing $5 million.
