Multimillion-dollar tourism package to bring visitors back to bushfire-impacted communities

A $6 million tourism recovery package has been announced to bring tourists back to Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast and Noosa following the devastating September bushfires.

The funding will support impacted operators and stimulate local economies.

The package includes $1.5 million for tourism marketing, $500,000 for industry recovery officers and $1 million to restore trails in the renowned Lamington National Park.

To support community-led recovery initiatives, $1.5 million has also been provided to Southern Downs Regional Council and Scenic Rim Regional Council to invest in tourism recovery projects.

The package is jointly funded by the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. While the full extent of the damage is still being calculated, the first phase, $6 million recovery package will help stimulate the immediate and long-term economic recovery of these regions.
