Riverbank recovery improves remote waterways health

A significant riparian restoration program has commenced at three sites on the Flinders River near Hughenden, north-west Queensland, creating benefits for community and the economy.

Riparian and Coastal Recovery Program

Program purpose

The objective of the Riparian Recovery Program is to provide funding assistance under the DRFA to:

$105 million to repair flood damaged recreational assets

Extraordinary disaster assistance of $105 million is now available to local councils and state agencies to clean up and repair community and recreational assets damaged in the major floods of the 2021-22 disaster season.

Grants available for flooded primary producers and small businesses

Extraordinary assistance grants up to $50,000 for primary producers and up to $25,000 for small businesses hit by recent floods in central, southern and western Queensland are now available.

The Queensland Resilience, Adaptation Pathways and Transformation Approach project (QRAPTA)

The frequency and scale of natural disasters are increasing. This, combined with chronic and periodic stressors, can compound communities’ vulnerability to natural disasters.

Recovery grants for cyclone affected FNQ tourism operators

Financial assistance is being provided to 73 tourism operators hit by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper after businesses across the region were isolated and unable to trade during the summer holiday period.
