Queensland’s flood-affected primary producers, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations will now have more time to apply for extraordinary disaster assistance in response to the monsoonal floods that inundated the north-west in early 2023.

The determination and innovation of Queenslanders in the face of natural disasters was showcased at the Get Ready Queensland Resilient Australia Awards night for 2023.

Communities across Queensland are exploring exciting new options to increase their awareness of floods, including a range of alternative flood warning infrastructure leveraging solar, radar and more.

Final preparations are underway ahead of repairs to a two-kilometre section of the Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap, which was extensively damaged by the 2019 bushfires.
