Get Ready Queensland Week has launched for 2023, with Queenslanders young and old encouraged to start preparing their family and property for the threat of bushfires, floods, cyclones and storms.

Extensive flood recovery works will take place across the Western Downs over the next 15 months to repair more than 1,800 kilometres of roads damaged by heavy rainfall events between November 2021 and May 2022.

Students at St Joseph’s Wandal, Rockhampton will get to rub shoulders with footy legend Johnathan Thurston while learning about local weather risks and how they and their families can prepare at home.

Queenslanders whose homes have been impacted by the Baffle Creek and Deepwater bushfires south of Gladstone can now apply for financial assistance.

QRA has activated joint State-Commonwealth Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements to ensure there's a safety net for vulnerable people directly affected by the ongoing bushfire situation in the Western and Darling Downs.
