Mental Health Recovery Program

Program purpose

To assist the region to recover after the North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough, a Community Recovery Package was made available and funded by the Commonwealth and State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements under Category C. The package included the Mental Health Recovery Program.

The purpose of the Mental Health Recovery Program was to improve the health of those adversely affected by the floods and to enhance the resilience of affected communities.

Program status

The Program concluded in June 2021.

Administering agency

Queensland Health led implementation of the Program with administrative support from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA).

Outcomes achieved

  • 1,412 people were screened
  • 64,834 instances of psychological first aid were provided.
