Mental health recovery program

Program purpose

The purpose of the jointly funded Australian and Queensland Government (50:50) Mental Health Recovery Program is to alleviate distress and accelerate the recovery of those communities impacted by the devastating effects of the North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough, 25 January – 14 February 2019 (Monsoon Trough).

The Mental Health Recovery Program is a component of the jointly funded, exceptional circumstances Category C & D package approved under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) 2018, following the Monsoon Trough.

The objectives of the program are to deliver a range of mental health recovery strategies to individuals and communities impacted by the Monsoon Trough, in order to:

  • reduce psychological distress and symptoms resulting from flooding experiences and resulting dislocation and disruption
