Community Assets Program

Clean-up and repair of community  and recreational assets and facilities 

Program purpose

To assist the region to recover after the North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough – 25 January to 14 February 2019 (Monsoon Trough), a Community Recovery Package was made available and funded by the Commonwealth and State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements under Category C.

The package included the Clean-up and Repair of Community Recreational Assets and Facilities Program (Community Assets and Facilities Program).

The purpose of the Community Assets and Facilities Program was to assist in the clean-up and repair of community and recreational assets that have been damaged by the Monsoon Trough and alleviate distress and accelerate the recovery of those communities impacted by the devastating effects of the event.

Program status

The program concluded in June 2022.

Administering agency

The Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) led implementation of the Program across local governments and state agencies. The Department of Housing and Public Works, Sport and Recreation (DEPW) administered funding to not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations.

Outcomes achieved:

From a total of 156 applications or expressions of interest, 67 projects were approved and completed – as last reported on 30 June 2022.
