Flexible Grants Program

Program purpose

The purpose of the jointly funded Australian and Queensland Government (50:50) Flexible Grants Program is to implement projects aimed at driving recovery, and re-building community connectivity and resilience in communities impacted by the North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough, 25 January – 14 February 2019 (Monsoon Trough).

The Flexible Grants Program is a component of the jointly funded, exceptional circumstances Category C & D package approved under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) 2018, following the Monsoon Trough. 

The objectives of the Flexible Grants Program are to provide funding to non-government organisations, community groups and local governments to deliver projects that:

  • drive disaster recovery and build awareness and resilience within communities impacted by the Monsoon Trough
  • support community-led engagement activities, development of local recovery initiatives and encourage partnerships and collaboration reduce future risks and minimise community dependence on government assistance.
