The $7.73 million Far North Queensland Flood Risk Management Package will undertake key flood risk management activities in the Bloomfield River catchment, encompassing Cook Shire, Douglas Shire and Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire council areas following the impact from Tropical Cyclone Jasper, associated rainfall and flooding, 13 – 28 December 2023 event.
The package will ensure the most updated and current flood data is available to assist councils to update their local government planning schemes.
Eligibility
The assistance measures will be made available in the following impacted council areas:
- Cook Shire Council
- Douglas Shire Council
- Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council
Funding acknowledgement
The package is funded by the Queensland Government using efficiencies realised under the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
