The $73 million 2024-25 Environmental Recovery Package is being delivered in two stages. Stage one will be delivered through the Environmental Cleanup and Local Conservation Grants initiative, a separate initiative of this package. Stage two will be delivered through the following initiatives:
- Catchment and Coastline Rehabilitation
- National Park Recovery
- Environmental and Cultural Asset Support
This funding is additional to the $2.1 million direct funding to the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation support recovery to improve the condition of the catchments and associated ecological processes and cultural values in the impacted regions, and the protection and use of the State’s national parks immediately following the North and Far North Tropical Low, commencing 29 January 2025.
Objective
The objective of the package is to support recovery, improve condition and build resilience in the impacted environments, including catchments and coastlines and the associated ecological processes, and protect environmental and cultural assets.
