About the DRFA exceptional circumstances packages

The 2025-26 North Queensland Monsoon Trough and Flooding event includes a suite of exceptional circumstances funding developed to support those severely impacted by the North Queensland Monsoon Trough and Flooding commencing 24 December 2025 event.

Refer to the DRFA activations summary for the details of the DRFA measures activated for each council for the event.

To date, the following DRFA exceptional circumstances package components have been announced:

Environment

Clermont - flooding from air
$1 million Community Relief Fund is available to impacted regions to undertake essential immediate recovery activities.

Economic

$7 million for emergency fodder support to sustain livestock and mitigate the impacts of flooding and loss of pasture in areas impacted by the floods.
Cloncurry Shire Council Airport runway damage 2026
$11.5 million for the Cloncurry Airport Recovery and Renewal Project damaged as a result of the North Queensland Monsoon Trough.
Winton 2025 Western Qld Trough
Up to $75,000 are available for affected primary producers to hire or purchase equipment and materials, clean up, remove debris, replace fencing and other costs associated with the recovery process.
Clermont - flooding from air
Offering wrap-around care for impacted farmers, with access to financial and human counselling, feral pest and locust management, and industry recovery and resilience officers.
Business affected north monsoon trough 25-26
$9.98 million Disaster Recovery Grants for small businesses to support clean-up, repairs and the replacement of essential equipment and stock so operations can sustain and jobs are protected.

Human & Social

The $4.26 million Mental Health Program will fund psychosocial health and wellbeing initiatives for flood affected communities and vulnerable Queenslanders.
