About
Funded through the Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), the $89.91 million Betterment Program aims to improve the disaster resilience of essential infrastructure in the north including the Flinders Highway, Mackay-Eungella Road, and key bridges, crossings and floodways. Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji, Cyclone Narelle and Severe Weather, commencing 24 December 2025 event.
Eligibility
The following councils are eligible to apply to the Betterment Fund:
- 1. Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council
- 2. Flinders Shire Council
- 3. Isaac Regional Council
- 4. Mackay Regional Council
- 5. Whitsunday Regional Council
- 6. Richmond Shire Council
- 7. Cassowary Coast Regional Council
- 8. Winton Shire Council
Funding acknowledgement
This Betterment Fund is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under Category D of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 2018 (DRFA) to support Queensland communities in their recovery from the Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji, Cyclone Narelle and Severe Weather, commencing 24 December 2025 event.
