Local Recovery and Resilience Grants
The Local Recovery and Resilience Grants provide $1 million capped grant allocations to assist councils that have been severely impacted by eligible extraordinary disaster events in 2021-22.
The purpose of the grants program is to assist eligible councils in delivering activities and projects that:
- address the emerging relief and recovery needs within the community following the onset of the eligible extraordinary event, and
- contribute to building disaster resilience and reducing the impact of future events.
Eligible councils
Local Recovery and Resilience Grants are capped at $1 million per eligible council, listed below under each eligible extraordinary event

Guidelines
Project plan and reporting
Eligible councils are required to use the following Project Plan Form to:
- detail proposed local recovery and resilience activities/works, milestones and costs to be delivered under the eligible event.
- lodge project plans, by the due date to QRA for assessment and approval.

Key dates
- 30 March 2023 - project plans due to QRA prior to the release of the ‘milestone 2 payment’.
- 30 June 2024 - all approved projects must be completed.
- 30 September 2024 - all final acquittal reports due to be lodged with QRA.
