Event summary
The North Queensland Monsoon Trough, Associated Tropical Cyclone Koji and Severe Weather commencing 24 December 2025 event has impacted many Queensland communities and primary producers across North and North West Queensland.
The Queensland Government has moved to ensure flood-affected communities get the help they need through the joint State-Commonwealth Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Activation summary
In response to this event, assistance has been activated for impacted communities. The activation summary provides an up-to-date view of funding available within impacted LGAs.
Financial assistance and exceptional circumstances
Recovery operation
The recovery operation for this event will include:
- preparation of a business case for extraordinary assistance under the DRFA
- offers of support from QRA Recovery and Resilience Officers (RROs) to eligible councils
- QRA as lead recovery agency liaising with Functional Recovery and Resilience Groups to ensure appropriate state recovery planning.
