Mental Health Recovery - 2025 Western Queensland Surface Trough

The $4.77 million Mental Health Disaster Recovery Package will  provide psychological support and mental health services to assist people and help grow resilience in communities impacted by the Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding 21 March – 19 May 2025 event.
The objectives of the package are to: 

  • reduce the negative mental health impacts of disasters and disaster-related adversity and other community crises, with a focus on vulnerable communities’ members, families and children as priority groups
  • reduce stigma and other barriers to accessing mental health treatment, care, and support
  • ensure communities are better equipped to understand how to respond to future disasters in ways that are more protective of their mental health and wellbeing
  • enhance the natural resilience of individuals and communities in the face of adversity.
