Primary Producer Industry Support - 2025 Western Queensland Surface Trough

About

This $25.6 million Primary Production Industry Support Package assists the Department of Primary Industries to tailor holistic support to primary producers in event-impacted LGAs. 

The funds will support medium-term recovery and enhance the long-term resilience of the primary producer industry by:

  • providing primary producers with one on one independent, impartial and professional help to address financial stressors of the impact of a disaster event
  • supporting primary producers by helping them to recover from the impacts of the event and to build resilience to the impact of cumulative disaster events and better understand the risk and impact of disaster to their farm business
  • delivering community events focused on the agricultural sector will build community resilience by creating stronger connections and relationships
  • repairing key state-managed predator control infrastructure to support primary producers in mitigating the impact of feral pests and supporting their recovery efforts.
  • mitigating the impacts caused by the significant increase in population of predators and pests on landscapes, vegetation and livestock to ensure timely recovery by the primary production sector within the LGAs impacted from the event. 

Funding acknowledgement

The package is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments to support Queensland communities in their recovery from the Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding 21 March – 19 May 2025.
